“All in Hand” was produced to illustrate the forward thinking, digital vision of Nuffield Health. It was the primary piece of content shown at their 2016 conference and has had use both internally and externally to showcase the company’s commitment to healthcare and technology.
The project was developed by myself and Niki Young over the course of few months and the actual filming took place over five days. I was the primary camera operator, director of photography and shared directing responsibility.
multiple locations, people and equipment was the main challenge with this production. We often had to film in very public locations, so getting the shots fast when under pressure was essential.
One of the more unique elements of this film was the utilisation of a drone to add scale and beautiful cinematics to the piece. Obtaining permissions, crew and locations were, again, interesting from an organisational point of view.
As this project was destined for the big screen, I opted for using the Arri Amira combined with Ultra prime lenses. My decision to go for the Amira over the Alexa was the speed at which we needed to get the shots and the more organic camera movements you get when shooting from the shoulder. Overall I am extremely happy with the way piece turned out however, I would have liked more time in post to refine the compositing of some of the graphical elements.
