The Oxford vs Cambridge boat race is one of the most historic sporting events in Britain. In 2015, Nuffield Health were one of the events primary sponsors and commissioned a series of films to profile the event.
I produced four case studies, two training videos and a mood film documenting the first female race. The shoot took place over four days in the lead up to the event and we were given behind the scenes access to all crews and training grounds.
Filming on the water was essential when tackling this project as it was primarily where we could add some pace into the film. Luckily enough, the event had a few media boats constantly tracking the participants in training. I opted to use the DJi Ronin as my rig to ensure the smoother shots possible however, I often switched up to over the shoulder when the occasion called for it.
Since the films were released, they have been one of the top performing series for Nuffield Health and were mentioned by Econslutancy as a great example of brand outreach.
