Fiona and Karen worked through the challenges of their fertility treatment as a team. And they got the best reward imaginable.
This film was the first in a two-part series on Nuffield Health’s Glasgow hospital fertility department. The aim of the project was to highlight how the services change people’s lives. The two couples chosen showcase the variety of backgrounds that the hospital treats.
Production wise, this was a fairly straight-forward three day shoot up in Glasgow. We had very limited access to the talent (as they had to nap a lot) so being nimble was vital. I chose to use the Sony A7s with some Zeiss primes as the small size and low light performance meant we could be as compact as possible.
To sex-up some of the sequences I also brought along a 100mm macro to get some of those dreamy nap-time shots. These were combined with some slow-motion footage to soften the overall feel of the film.
Glasgow were so impressed by the end product that we have since returned to film a number of other projects including some videos around weight loss surgery.
